Powhatan is looking for students who show the capacity and desire to make the most of our school's rich and varied educational program. By virtue of their intellectual qualities and special interests, students will flourish from the school's challenging curriculum and will stimulate others in all areas of school life. Admission criteria for Powhatan are high and include evidence of motivation, ability, and character. Additionally, Powhatan families are committed to working in partnership with the school to support their child's educational experience.

The school unequivocally supports the premise that diversity has a positive, long-term impact upon the social, emotional, moral, and intellectual development of all its students. We encourage applications of candidates from all ethnic groups and religions and from different socio-economic backgrounds. To a large degree, the purpose of the school's substantial financial aid program is to support this diversity in the student body. Financial aid is granted to qualified candidates based upon the family's financial need.

We welcome inquiries from interested families and are pleased to send you our viewbook. We look forward to the opportunity to explain our program and philosophy in detail. We invite parents of prospective students to tour the campus and talk with the Director of Advancement and the Headmaster. After a formal application has been made, we will arrange a campus visit for your child, which may include a personal interview. Transcript materials from the candidate's present school and an individual assessment at Powhatan are required.
