ADMISSIONS CALENDAR
2008-2009
1. Application Deadline
Applications for kindergarten through grade 8 are due in the Admissions office by January 31, 2009. Applications received after this date will be accepted, but availability will determine the extent of the assessment process.
2. Parent Tours
Tours for interested parents are scheduled year round by appointment. Please contact the Director of Advancement, Amy M. Ré, at (540) 837-1009 to schedule a tour.
3. Student Visits and Admission Assessments
Kindergarten: Candidates will participate in a morning of simulated kindergarten with other pre-kindergarten age children. Candidates will be individually assessed during the course of this visit. Kindergarten assessment dates are scheduled for January 20, January 27, February 3, and February 10, 2009. Assessments after this date will be performed on an individual basis, if space is available.
Grade 1: Candidates will be evaluated on an individual basis during a full-day class visit that will be scheduled between January and February. Assessments after the application deadline will be performed on an individual basis, if space is available.
Grades 2 - 8: Candidates will be administered grade-level assessments on Saturday, February 7, 2009. In addition, a full-day class visit will be scheduled between January and February. Assessments after this date will be performed on an individual basis, if space is available. Official copy of school records must be submitted to the admissions office prior to the assessment date.
4. Open Houses
All interested parents are invited to attend our 2008-2009 Open Houses, which are scheduled on the following dates:
Sunday, December 7, 2008, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, January 11, 2009, 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
5. Financial Aid Application Deadline
In order to be considered for financial aid for the 2009-2010 school year, School and Student Service for Financial Aid must receive your application no later than February 13, 2009. Additionally, the Financial Aid Committee requires that you submit a copy of the application you filed with SSS (PFS Form) and a copy of your 1040 tax return with attachments for the previous year. Applications received by Powhatan after this date or applications received without supporting documents may be excluded from being considered for financial aid for the 2009-2010 school year.
6. Admission and Financial Aid Notification Dates
Admission notifications and financial aid decisions will be mailed by March 13, 2009. New student enrollment contracts and deposits are due back by April 3, 2009.
