Whether you are reading to your child’s class, helping with a cooking project, making a record of a child’s reading progress, or chaperoning a field trip, Powhatan’s teachers welcome and encourage parent involvement in their classrooms. At Powhatan, parent volunteer opportunities abound, giving both you and your child a sense of belonging to the Powhatan family.

Powhatan’s parents possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise and Powhatan’s students are eager to learn.

• Participate in a classroom Read Aloud
• Volunteer in the library
• Chaperone a field trip
• Help with a fundraiser for Powhatan’s foster children
• Provide assistance to your child’s teacher
• Support the class play
• Perform a demonstration in the classroom
• Share your family’s traditions and culture
• Provide assistance with the NEAL program
